SQC & OR Unit

SQC & OR Unit, Chennai commenced its operations in 1959. Primarily it was meant to serve the industries in and around Chennai in their quality improvement and resource savings as a national cause, through quality control as well as assurance techniques, mainly basing decisions on data, also training industry executives in the methodologies. Over the years, as the business changed, with emergence of a battery of service industries and with development of methodologies, the nature of consulting changed to keep pace with changing times.

It has served a wide variety of organizations, both Manufacturing and Service, Government and private, across the country through training and consultancy in the fields of Statistics and Operations Research. The Chennai unit of ISI has to its credit several theoretical and applied research work in Statistics and Mathematics and many of the projects undertaken have been breakthrough applications.
