The Applied Statistics Unit (ASU) of the Indian Statistical Institute, Chennai started functioning around the year of 2011.

The Computer Science Unit (CSU) of the Indian Statistical Institute, Chennai started functioning around the year of 2011, and currently comprise of four faculty members.

SQC & OR Unit, Chennai commenced its operations in 1959. Primarily it was meant to serve the industries in and around Chennai in their quality improvement and resource savings as a national cause, through quality control as well as assurance techniques, mainly basing decisions on data, also training industry executives in the methodologies.
